Fallen Soldier: Christian S. Garcia

Staff Sergeant Christian A. Garcia, 30, of Goodyear, AZ, was assigned to the Maintenance Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood and served during Operation New Dawn. He died April 2, 2011, in Babil province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his position with indirect fire.

SSG Garcia joined the Army in June 1999 as a quartermaster and chemical equipment repairer. SSG Garcia deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from December 2004 to December 2005 and from November 2007 to January 2009.

SSG Garcia was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed hanging out with friends and family. Gatherings and get togethers showed his ready smiles to everyone. He was a happy person who had a positive affect on all around him.

Survivors include his wife, Angela; daughters, Klaryssa Rae and Kaylahni Marie; stepsons, Christopher Satterfield and Joel Hernandez; and stepdaughter, Victoria Hernandez.
